Randy Peterson comes to Martin County Mold Removal with
a vast wealth of knowledge and over thirty years of experience
in public and environmental health and safety. His work and
association with such organizations as The Centers for Disease
Control and Prevention (CDC), The National Environmental Safety
Association, The International Council of Cruise Lines and
the National Sanitation Foundation serve as proof of his dedication
and commitment to environmental health and safety issues.
Mr. Peterson has worked for County, State and Federal Public
Health Agencies and spent many years in private industry developing
and implementing programs, providing training and auditing
and writing reports and recommendations.
Mr. Peterson is a graduate of Central Michigan University
and worked with various county health departments in Michigan
where he began administering such diverse programs as Indoor
and Outside Air Quality, Water Well Systems, Septic Systems,
Food Safety Inspection and Education, as well as other related
environmental health programs.
He later joined The Michigan Department of Public Health
working in the department of Evaluation, Consultation, Education
and training advising county health department administrators
and sanitarians on program Operations.
Randy then began working for a large cruise ship company
where he developed a complete environmental health program
and became the on-board and office health department director.
Other experience in this field included, advising on operational
needs in disease prevention, developing protocols, training
officers and crew and auditing results in environmental management
and health systems. Programs included indoor air quality,
potable water, swimming pools and spa operation, food safety,
solid and hazardous waste management, sewage treatment, workplace
safety and safe chemical management.
In 1991, Mr. Peterson was recruited by Dr Vernon Hauk, Assistant
US Surgeon General, to Join The Centers for Disease Control
and Prevention (CDC) where he was the head of the Vessel Sanitation
Program. He was the Chief of the Vessel Sanitation program
with oversight of inspections on cruise ships visiting US
ports and in new Cruise ship construction.
He is a member of the National Environmental Health Association,
American Industrial Hygienist Association and is a Certified
Indoor Air Quality Specialist. He has served on many national
committees such as The International Council of Cruise Lines
and the National Sanitation Foundation. Randy has attended
many continuing education and training programs including
graduate courses in environmental health at the University
of Michigan.
Major accomplishments include:
- One of six experts to write the 1987 version of the CDC
VSP operations manual
- Wrote original vessel construction manual in 1992
- Member of revision committee in 1994
- Member of task force to write CDC VSP 2000 operations manual
- Developed and implemented HAL public health and Environmental
programs
- NEHA Technical Section Chair for Food Safety 1989 – 1991
- Authored two training textbooks on food safety and one
on Chemical and Hazardous waste management
- Keeper of the gate for all chemicals used on HAL ships
- Adviser to various Cruise ship associations
